The Location

The beautiful St Paul’s Anglican Church, located at 233 Lock St W. in Dunnville, Ontario. Accomodation is hostel-style, on air mattresses in the parish hall. (We‘ll have extras available, but would appreciate it if you can bring your own sleeping bag and air mattress.)

The 2010 Conference

The Cranmer Conference will return to Dunnville, Ontario on 25 to 27 June 2010. The main sessions, led by Fr Gordon Maitland, will explore the meaning of Christian orthodoxy through the Lambeth Quadrilateral. Cost is $50, all-inclusive, payable at the door by cheque or cash. We would ask that you pre-register online before 20 June, so that we know how many people to expect. Let us know if you have any questions unanswered by the website!

Heirs Through Hope: Anglican Identity and the Lambeth Quadrilateral

Fr Gordon Maitland will lead a discussion on the Lambeth Quadrilateral, adopted by the Lambeth Conference of bishops in 1888, which sets out the basic principles of Christian faith and order as recognized by the Anglican Communion. Its four points were identified as constituting the essential foundation upon which ecumenical discussions with a view to possible future reunification with other Christian bodies were to be grounded. The four points are:

The Lambeth Quadrilateral has gained fresh prominence in the proposed Anglican Covenant, where it forms a key part of the section outlining the Anglican inheritance of faith. Thus, it is a timely subject for study.

But we’re not finished yet!

Dr William Renwick, of McMaster University and the Gregorian Institute of Canada, will also lead a workshop on the music of the pre-Reformation Sarum Rite. Fr Robert Mitchell, of St Thomas’s Church in Toronto, is the conference chaplain.
