The Cranmer Conference will return to Dunnville, Ontario on 25 to 27 June 2010. The main sessions, led by Fr Gordon Maitland, will explore the meaning of Christian orthodoxy through the Lambeth Quadrilateral. Cost is $50, all-inclusive, payable at the door by cheque or cash. Fr Gordon Maitland will lead a discussion on the Lambeth Quadrilateral, adopted by the Lambeth Conference of bishops in 1888, which sets out the basic principles of Christian faith and order as recognized by the Anglican Communion. Its four points were identified as constituting the essential foundation upon which ecumenical discussions with a view to possible future reunification with other Christian bodies were to be grounded. The Lambeth Quadrilateral has gained fresh prominence in the proposed Anglican Covenant, where it forms a key part of the section outlining the Anglican inheritance of faith. Thus, it is a timely subject for study.
Dr William Renwick, of McMaster University and the Gregorian Institute of Canada, will also lead a workshop on the music of the pre-Reformation Sarum Rite. Fr Robert Mitchell, of St Thomas’s Church in Toronto, is the conference chaplain.
